Gold and silver rates displayed on GoldSilver Rate are benchmark estimates computed dynamically from global spot commodity futures (COMEX / London Bullion Market Association), current USD/INR currency exchange rates, Indian central import duty tariffs (currently 6.00%), and average state bullion association premiums.

Actual retail prices in physical jewellery stores, retail bullion dealers, and local shroffs (such as IBJA, Tanishq, Malabar Gold, Kalyan Jewellers) may vary based on local transport costs, refining premiums, hallmarking fees, and jeweller-specific making charges.

2. Goods & Services Tax (GST) & Making Charges

Under Indian taxation laws, physical purchase of gold and silver bars/coins/jewellery is subject to 3.00% GST (Goods and Services Tax). Furthermore, finished jewellery includes making charges (typically 8% to 25%) and 18% GST applicable on the making charges. SonaRate provides an automated jewellery billing calculator to estimate these breakdowns, but actual final invoices provided by licensed jewellers will prevail.
